Justice for Wildlife Malaysia (JWM) - Founder

Managing a new local organisation that assists the Malaysian government law enforcement agencies, Malaysian judiciary and NGOs in capacity building on improving wildlife crime prosecutorial effectiveness, drafting legislation for protected areas, conducting research on existing wildlife crime legislation, and assistance with legal inquiries related to wildlife crime. JWM aims to address legal needs in wildlife conservation for other organisations and support their conservation efforts.


Past

Persatuan Penyelidik Rimba Malaysia (Rimba) – Liaison Officer (Legal) (2018-2019)

Responsible for liaising with different government and non-governmental agencies for management of Terengganu's Kenyir State Park, from the initiation of the Terengganu State Park Enactment 2017 to its official gazettement. Multi-agency liaising was mainly to coordinate different legislations, get feedback, and gain support for the realization of a legally protected area in Kenyir. Was seconded to the State Park office for two months to oversee the initial requirement for a management set-up and assist in training enforcement officers in patrolling and monitoring. Also assisted in legal-related matters for other projects within Rimba, such as agreement/contract drafting and legislation review.

Persatuan Penyelidik Rimba Malaysia (Rimba) – Justice for Silent Victims (J4SV) Program Coordinator (2017-2019)

Responsible for coordinating and managing training workshops for Perhilitan prosecution officers in court decorum, preparing investigation papers, and effective wildlife crime case prosecution. Main tasks include liaising with different international and local agencies for security clearance, workshop management, and logistics. Also conducts and coordinates wildlife crime awareness workshops involving Malaysian judiciary members to garner support from judges in combating wildlife crime in Malaysia. Another task was to maintain a database of wildlife crime cases by case tracking. This includes attending court and meeting prosecution officers.

Persatuan Penyelidik Rimba Malaysia (Rimba) – Monitoring Specialist (SMART data), patrol coordinator (2017)

Responsible for maintaining SMART database in a tiger conservation program in Kenyir, Terengganu. Main tasks were to record, manage, and interpret patrol data to supplement tiger monitoring efforts in the Kenyir Core Area. Other responsibilities include preparing patrol data, maps, and planning patrols involving 16 patrollers. Was also responsible for coordinating patroller movements and managing enforcement operations with Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP), with successful arrests of seven poachers in total for 2017.


National Blood Centre, KL – Consultant Programmer (2016)

Responsible for setting up an online blood ordering system (MyBOS) to cater for orders from hospitals served by the National Blood Centre. Oversaw entire software engineering pipeline from requirements gathering and testing, and involved in training hospitals to use the system. MyBOS currently caters for hospitals around Klang Valley.

NovaGlobal Pte Ltd, Singapore  - Intern (2011)

Responsible for setting up five nodes for a grid system for Bioinformatics Research Lab, UTM to be used with GROMACS molecular dynamics package. Node set-up include middleware installation (Globus Toolkit), grid framework set-up (Vine Toolkit), and a front-end management system.
